Diogo Comum is an award-winning film director based in São Paulo, Brazil. His parents were never artists — a taxi driver and a nurse — but his father’s love of music and his mother’s photographs covering the walls of their house were a constant presence growing up. That combination found its own outlet in his teens: years spent digging through rap samples in the early 2000s, tracing every loop back to its source and following that thread from one artist to the next. Long before he ever held a camera, the songs he obsessed over already arrived to him as images — a mood, a texture, a place. That instinct for research, atmosphere, and narrative is still what drives his work today. His film Skin won Bronze in the Film category at Cannes Lions in 2025.
